Distinction between influenza and the common cold?
Hi there,
I'd just like to know what the difference is between the common cold and influenza and also, why healthy people can suffer from influenza and colds many times.
Thank you.

You will almost always have muscle aches with a flu, not usually with a cold

the flu is rapid onset, the cold takes a few days
the flu causes a headache in 80% of cases the cold never really causes a headache
sneezing is uncommon with the flu but common with the cold
chills affect those with the flu by 60% but are uncommon with those who have a cold
the flu results in a dry cough, the cold gives you a cough that brings up mucus
you can get the cold and the flu over and over because these viruses constantly mutate and you never catch the same one twice.
