Good recipes for when you have a cold or flu?
My husband has a really bad cold (might be the flu). I know chicken noodle soup is good for a cold but he hates chicken soup. I don't have a pressure cooker or a crock pot sadly so I don't think I can make a stew.

Basically, does anyone know of any good recipes for someone who has a cold? Something that might make them feel better and is nutritious?
He really hates chicken noodle soup and canned soup like Cambells as well.

When I have a bad cold, I like Hot and Sour Soup from a Chinese restaurant. You can make your own version with chicken broth, mushrooms, green onions, Chili Garlic sauce, soy sauce, grated ginger, and some noodles. I make it kind of spicy to open up the sinuses.

Beef Broth made from beef bones is a good idea too. I make Vietnamese Pho - a beef broth but I put cinnamon sticks, and peppercorns in the simmering bones with onion, carrot and celery. The important part of all soups is the liquid. when one is sick it is important to get enough fluids to keep the mucus flowing out of the body.

Look up soup recipes from other countries too. Mexican tortilla soup is marvelous, will make your nose run and add a lot of water and flavour to the diet.

Another person mentioned Hot and Sour Soup from a Chinese restaurant - I make it at home. MMMMM good so we can have it for a couple of days.

Turkey soup - ??? There should be a lot of turkey bones out there, ,

You don't need a pressure cooker or crock pot to make a stew. Just a heavy bottomed casserole with a lid - the stew ingredients can be put into the pot and into the oven then baked for 3 hours and you will have a stew. Or make it on top of the stove in a "Dutch oven" a large cooking pot, heavy bottomed with a lid and simmer the stew on low.

He needs to quit being a baby and decide which he hates worse; the chicken noodle soup or the cold/flu.If he's old enough to be a husband it's time to grow up.
