How many confirmed H1N1 cases have there been in the USA in 2009, and compared to "regular" flu?
How do H1N1 infections and deaths compare to "regular" seasonal flu in the USA? I've heard only that 95 children have died of H1N1 since April 2009.

Pres Obama has called the Swine Flu epidemic in the States today (25th Oct.) a National Emergency with sudden rises in cases across the States.
I dont envy U americans..I am Aussie. and we are now receiving the H1n1 shots.
as at 25th Oct 2009 just over 1000 have died in your country.
In so far as seasonal flu goes..that flu kills many thousands each year, yet we seem to have forgotten that statistic.
What U heard is probably correct..It is unusual that Swine flu appears to affect the young more..WHY..well that hasnt actually been established yet. A work in progress.
Perhaps as the vaccine becomes more available, the incidence of the swine flu may decline.
Of course, in the states getting the shot may at the current time be difficult also. Its free in Australia.

the US has had over 1000 kids so far die from the swine flu sence it started... they say they look for it to kill 150 million people before the flu season is over... its hitting the pregnant woman and younger hard cause they are not use to the swine flu virus.. anyone who was born from 1968 till now stands much more change of getting and possibly dieing from this flu.. we have no immunity to it..thats why they are telling people to get the swine flu shot...I have a 23 month old and im worried also... all i can say is wash ur hands allot and stay away from sick people and dont go out in public if u dont have to.. if so wear a N95 grade face mask.. CVS sells them.. 2 in a box cost around $ 7.00

Swine flu is spreading faster and claiming new fatalities health officials said Friday, as the global death toll from the virus rose to nearly 5,000 victims. Since the A(H1N1) virus was uncovered in April, there have been over 4,735 deaths reported to the World Health Organisation as of a week ago, the WHO said. Most of the fatal cases — 3,539 — have been recorded in North and South America.
