without going into too much detail, you should eat more when you have an illness, at the very least the same amount. your body is using energy to combat the infection/virus as well as for your everyday movement and metabolism. because it's antibodies in your blood fighting the infection the fact that you are eating more will not impact on your body's 'multitasking ability'. your digestive system and immune system are independent of each other, so eating a little bit more will most likely speed up the rate of your recovery. however be wary of eating too much. being ill you will probably find yourself alone at home with hours to kill, constantly venturing to the fridge and back. you don't want to put on weight.
:D Get well soon :D

Its not what you should eat its what you shouldn't eat that matters. Avoid mucus forming foods. This means no processed foods, no grains and especially no dairy! The more mucus you have the longer its going to take to clear up you cold. Also oranges are very good at clearing mucus and provide a large amount of vitamin C so thats always something to try to eat as much as possible.
