Is getting the H1N1(swine flu) vaccine dangerous?
I suppose it is too late for me to be asking this because I just got the shot today at my school, but I still want to know if it is dangerous. At my school, they aren't doing it twice over a period of 3 weeks, they just did one injection.
I was a little bit sick the week before and I still had a bit of a cough when I got it, but I wasn't contagious and I didn't have any other cold symptoms.
My upper arm aches a little bit, but I think that is normal, I hope.
Please give me sources as well because I have heard so many points of view, but I don't know which is correct, maybe there is more than one answer. Thanks!

From my boyfriends mom (a nurse), my doctor, my nephew's doctor (pediatrician), and experts on tv the vaccine is not dangerous. The vaccine is the same as any other flu vaccine except that it only targets the H1N1 virus. The shot contains the dead virus, so it CAN'T make you sick. When it goes into your body you're immune system starts to fight it. You may feel a slight fever and be tired, but that is your immune system working well, not any sickness.

As far as the talk about preservative (Thimerosal) it is a tiny, harmless dose. My sister-in-law was worried about her son getting the vaccine, but the doctor explained that the amount of mercury in over 100 doses is still less then a can of tuna.

When you get information that says the vaccine is not safe, check the source. Most are just people with no medical background that are worried.
