Is it safe for an infant to receive a flu shot booster while having a cold?
My daughter is almost 9 months old and has a cold (no fever). To be on the safe side I would prefer waiting for the booster, but then the time is getting too close to X-mas when we will be on an international flight.
I just talked to the RN at the office, since my daughter is just starting her cold (it could also be allergies), we decided to wait until next week for the booster (when she should hopefully be all better). Thanks for your responses. I realized that just starting with a cold she could get a fever at any time which could cause problems in combination with the vaccine.

I know that adults shouldn't get the flu shot when they have any cold-like symptoms, so I would assume it would be the same for babies.

No! You should NEVER give a child a vaccination when they are sick. Their immune system is already busy trying to tackle that and can't handle another attack at the same time. You might want to rethink the flu shot anyway, lots of nasty stuff in them. Even though they (supposedly) make the infant ones w/o mercury they still contain formaldehyde, chicken embryos, antifreeze and other nasty stuff.

My kids will not give them the flu shot if they have a cold. I would wait. Maybe it will clear up in a couple of days.

One of the problems with giving a vaccine to someone that is sick is that you won't know what is causing symptoms like fever -the vaccine or the illness. The other concern is that the two can combine to make things worse fever from cold + fever from vaccine, or achiness, etc.
Can you get the shot where you are going?
Personally I think the risks of actually getting the flu are so low I wouldn't bother
