They basically start off the same with an upper respiratory infection---runny nose, sneezing, cough
But, the Flu brings on more extreme symptoms of body aches, headaches, a significant fever (over 100). You feel wiped out and unwell. With a cold you can still pretty much function, but have annoying symptoms. The flu will confine you to bed.
