What ever happened to the bird flu and mad cow disease?
Should we be expecting fish fever or pork pox in the near future?
The bird flu was supposed to be the next pandemic yet it and mad cow disease have disappeared from all news outlets.
Count---get some new material.......btw what did Bush make up today?
Constant---yeah you're right, I'd almost completely forgotten those.

I just watched a documentary on bird flu, it wasn't as contagious as first thought. As long as it is caught in the first 10 days it can be treated with high doses of existing anti-biotics. That's until a new strian develops that is resistant to existing treatments.
There are constantly new viruses or mutations of old viruses emerging. Overuse of antibiotics and stopping treatment half way through has allowed some viruses to develop resistance to treatment, much like we develop antibodies.

And don't forget swine flu. I think they have stopped reporting on those others because they have a winner with "global warming".
