What is the main diffrence between a cold, or flu and Pneumonia.?
You hear about people dying all the time from Pneumonia, and I was wanting to know whats the diffrence? All of the signs seem the same as a cold. When do you know it is time to go see your doctor? Most people get running noses, fever, cough w/ mucas, and body aches. You always hear not to keep taking antibiotics, and that antibiotics will do nothing for the common cold. So how do you know when to got see the Doctor...?

The symptoms are different for a cold and flu an pneumonia;
Cold is a virus in the sinus and or sore throat.
Flu is a virus in the stomach and GI tract. with diarria, stomach cramps, ache all over maybe a fever, vomiting. Old people with a weak emune system can die from this.
Pneumonia is deeper in the lungs. It is advance form of a cold that can fill the lungs so you cant breath and can kill you.
You are wright you don't need to wast your time taking antibiotics for a cold or flu. But you can drink orange juice or take vitamin C and E to build your emune system and stop all sugar that destroys the emune system

A cold usually goes away in a few days.
A flu is like a cold but with extra symptoms like tiredness and muscle aching.
Pneumonia is an infection in the lungs. I have had it. And i did not have any symptoms that could be differentiated from the glandular fever i had at the same time!
The only reason it got picked up was because the dr listened to my chest in the e.d.
Taking antibiotics all the time will just cause an immunity to them.
Its best that you just try and rest and drink fluids to deal with a cold or flu.
If you suspect that you may have a case of pneumonia (if you have lots of mucus, a sore chest, wheezing or anything like that), or if your cold symptoms last longer than a week or so you should go to the gp.
