Can you get sick from a flu shot?
Yesterday I got a flu shot. I didn't really need one but thought it wouldn't be a bad idea. Today I woke up with a sore throat. Throughout the day, I have progressing been feeling hotter. Around 2pm, I started taking Advil. It is now 11pm and I have now taken 16 Advil total, and I still feel like I am getting hotter.

First question - Can the flu shot have made me sick in the first place?

Second - Did I go a little overboard on taking the Advil? I do weigh 230lbs, so I think I might be okay with taking that much Advil.

Third - Is there anyway I can cool my body down. I already tried a cold shower, but I still feel very very hot.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Yes you can. They inject the exact bacteria/germs that cause the sickness only at a lower does so that you most likely won't get sick or at least won't get as sick as you would if you had the real thing. You should take motrin, check your temperature, drink lots of fluids, and get lots of sleep. It shouldn't last too long.

First question - sometimes after you have a flu shot you may have a mild reaction such as a sore throat and a low grade fever this will usually go away on it's own after 24- 48 hours. It is not the flu it is just a reaction to the shot.

Second question - yes you really overdid the advil, Even though you weigh 230lbs you took a over dose which maybe why you feel so bad. Advil is very hard on your kidneys you should never take more then the bottle says to take in a 24 hour period. taking to much advil may cause kidney failure

Third question- you can try putting a cool rag on your forehead or around your neck to cool off, otherwise it won't hurt you to take another shower, but whatever you do don't take anymore advil

Directions do not take more than directed
the smallest effective dose should be used
adults and children 12 years and over: take 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours while symptoms persist
if pain or fever does not respond to 1 tablet, 2 tablets may be used
do not exceed 6 tablets in 24 hours, unless directed by a doctor!!!!

Yes that's what it is designed to do. It gives you a form of flu so that your immune system can know how to protect you from it. As for the Advil i am not sure but I drink a lot of thermaflu and/or cold gatorade mixed with pedalite. Hope you feel better.
