Cold,Flu and swine flu question?
i have a sore throat and its really windy and cold where i live. (nyc) so im not sure if its the cold, flu, or swine flu ( i hope not). so what are some good antibiotics/medicine/other treatment that i could take without a perscription that i can buy at a pharmacy? Thank You so much! :) and wish me the best.

Antibiotics are not good for fighting a virus..If it is truly the flu you can get an antiviral from the doctor..there is no over the counter med to help with a cold or flu..if you are not running a high fever and feel terrible it is probably just a cold..the only thing you can do is keep hydrated and eat healthy.

well your not supposed to take Theraflu or Tamaflu if your not SURE you have the flu, and it you just have a cold, then you just need to take some tylenal or benadryl or something to help with congestion and headache and throat ache. if you feel really bad, you need to see a doctor!! good luck!!

Without a prescription, there's not a whole lot you can do for viruses. Make sure you're taking in plenty of Vitamin C, which will help your immune system fight off whatever you have. If you symptoms are keeping you up at night, buy a medication like NyQuil. Unless you're immunocompromised your body should fight off any disease on it's own, it just needs enough sleep and nutrition.

If all you have is a sore throat don't wonder about a cold or flu (swine flu is just flu) until you develop the symptoms shared by both. You cannot buy antibiotics without a prescription, and if this is viral they wouldn't help you anyway. Treat your symptom, the only one you've mentioned. Chloraseptic anesthetic throat spray, lozenges and dissolving strips will make you much more comfortable. And I wish you the very best.
