A couple of questions about the flu?
How is the flu diagnosed? Is there a test for it? If you have a cold, can it turn into the flu? I have been sick for almost 2 weeks- congestion, sinus pressure, headache, productive cough, runny nose, but now I'm starting to have aches an dpains in my legs, arms, & lower back. My 3 month old has RSV & we were just in the ER last night. I'm hoping this is still just a cold!

I don't think a cold can turn into the flu but the flu can turn in to pneumonia. Or it could just be a BAD cold. And with all the stress with your baby, of course it's going to take you longer to get over your illness. I think you should probably check with you doctor because you have that productive cough.

It is very difficult to distinguish the flu from other infections on the basis of symptoms alone. A doctor's exam may be needed to tell whether you have developed the flu or a complication of the flu. There are tests that can determine if you have the flu as long as you are tested within the first 2 or 3 days of the illness.
