How long should a fever last in a child with the flu?
My son 6 yrs old complained of leg and arms hurting saturday morning, then the stomach. He slept all day. That night his temp got to 104. I took him to the er and they said they didnt really know what it was probably the flu. Now it is Tuesday and without the tylenol and motrin, his fever still goes to 102.

continue to treat the fever & push fluids. he needs to see the pediatrician -not the ER.

102 is ok. 104 is boarderline. As was said, a call to the pediatrician would have sufficed.
Again, 102 is alright for a fever. It may seem a bit high, but it's in the "normal" range for a fever. The fever itself can last anywhere from one day to four or five days. Note how it's lower than it was previously. It's going down gradually. ^_^
If he's not fine in about three or four days, call the pediatrician.
