Is there a cold or flu going around now?
Is there a flu or cold going around that seems to linger for weeks? I have this virus/flu/cold that just came out of nowhere, usually I can tell I am going to get sick but my girlfriend and I just seemed to get it at the same time and people at work complain about the same thing as well. It starts out as chills, headache, head pressure and now has built in to drainage, mild fever, chills, sneezing, congestion in lungs and head. Anyone else have this? It seems to have lasted for over two weeks now. I have been trying Tylenol Cold and Flu and downing tons of OJ, Tea, Grape and Grapefruit juices and cannot seem to shake it.

Here in South Africa, we have exactly the same... I've just been on a course of strong antibiotics for my cold and it hasn't gone away. It also came out of nowhere in a day! Have exactly the same symptoms as you do.

I recommend going to the doctor for a booster shot. And get Vitamin C tablets- they work well!!

I also believe there is really this Flu or cold you've observed because right now even myself i have one & this is a week and some days & tell you what i completed my preton & Vitamin C course as it was suggested by some people.

Actually a cold or the flu is viral and cannot be treated with antibiotics. The only thing the antibiotics are treating are the annoyances that go with the flu or cold such as infection in chest, head, nose, etc. Sore throat, sneezing, etc. The flu or a cold will have to run it's course before it will go away. An antibiotic will not help it to go away any faster. The flu will last usually between 7-14 days and a cold usually goes away after 7-10 days. There is a misconception with alot of people that an antibiotic will cure a cold or flu. It will not! Just the symptoms of them, is all. Hope I've helped.
