Is traveling to Mexico in July 2009 unsafe due to the swine flu?
I have honeymoon plans in Mexico for July and I'm wondering if it will be safe to travel there at that time. Should I look into making travel plan changes?

That's two months away..anything can happen. If you still plan a trip there..get travel insurance so you can get your money back if anything happens that you can't go.

It's hard to say where we will be in July. My friends were planning their wedding in Mexico for mid June and they have already contacted their travel agent to make alternate plans in the event that there is a travel ban to Mexico. Personally, I'm not sure if I would want to be traveling anywhere outside the US until this is completely cleared up and some time has passed. Maybe you could postpone your honeymoon until winter.

Possibly. The Foreign Office in Britain has advised people not to go there, and British tour operators are bringing holiday makers home and cancelling flights. If you have reservations then speak to your travel agent.

Swine Flu?
How about that it's a third-world country without a stable government?
That their own public officials claim most of the territory is completely out of their control?
That the "real" (not official) government is at war with its neighbors?
Unless we're invading, I'm not going.

I'm in the same boat, have a honeymoon booked.

My worry is the impact on the local economy if they have a month or so of lost business, that's assuming the ban in lifted by then.

We are looking at alternative options as since it is more than 56 days to the holiday we can change to an alternative destination for a small admin fee.
