Is a USA flu shot effective when planning to stay overseas during the winter?
Does it make sense to get a flu shot here in the USA when I most likely will be staying in Europe for most of the winter? Does the US vaccine have a worldwide coverage?

Hi Lynn,
Great question. The short answer is yes...the flu is the flu, is the flu!
The flu shot is a combination of the most common strains thought to be prevalent in the upcoming flu season, and does not have any geographical constraints.
As a matter of fact, the United States, France and Britain are among nine countries that pledged on Thursday to make 10 percent of their H1N1 flu vaccine supply available to other nations that may need it.
In recognition of the global nature of the pandemic, the United States is taking this action along with Australia, Brazil, France, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, and Britain.
So your US flu shot will get you through your winter in Europe.
Enjoy!
