Isn't it more rude to cough or sneeze in public, than it is to burp or fart in public?
I was just thinking about this... I mean, in my opinion it is way more rude to sneeze or cough in public than it is to burp or fart. I mean, when you are coughing or sneezing, you are spreading germs that can cause the cold or flu. When you burp, you don't spread disease, and when you fart all you spread is a smell that lasts 2 minutes. What are your opinions?

Spreading diseases doesn't make it rude, at all.
While you can somewhat control your farting and burping, you can't control coughing and sneezing.

Farting and burping are probably the most offensive since you can prevent both. If you let one out, then you're doing it just to be a dick.
I don't think it's rude to cough or sneeze because you can't help it, but it's definitely more contagious than farting and burping. If someone is sick, they shouldn't be out in public, though. Neither should old people... but that's a different subject.

It's only rude if you don't cover your mouth with a tissue or at least your hand.
What is wrong with people? Why are we SO embarassed by our bodies natural functions?

It is a whole heck of a lot easier to hold in a burp or fart than to hold in a cough or a sneeze. I was holding in my coughs all day one day and then had my chest and throat ache for days afterwards, so not a good idea.
Plus you can cover your mouth with your sleeve or kleenex and stop most of the germs but the smell and sound of the burps are going to come out no matter what. Coughing or sneezing without covering is rude and gross though.
