Likelihood of herpes?
Ok, so here's the story:
Pending a divorce, I had met this great guy. A week later we had sex and a few days after that he tells me that I got him sick. Now, I have herpes type 1 but my doctor said that because I've had recurring seasonal cold sores since I was about 5, that it was most likely the result of sharing something with an infected person. I didn't tell the guy I slept with and yes I know that"s a mistake. My question is, its been a few days since we had protected sex and because he's been feeling crappy, does that mean he caught herpes from me even though we used protection and neither of us went down on the other? What's the likelihood that because of the seasonal change here, he's legitimately just got the flu?
The research I've done says that hsv-1 which is what I have can be present on the genitals but I never went down on him and he never went down on me. Hell, we only kissed once during it.

genital herpes is rarely the same virus as cold sores. Google herpes simplex 1 and herpes simplex 2.

You have HSV1, not 2. While HSV1 can result in genital herpes, it is extremely rare.
I've had cold sores since I was 15, and I don't have genital herpes. I had a partner who had HSV1 one as well and he never gave me herpes.
Call down a little. Tell him to go to the doctor.

There's no way you could have spread the virus to him if you did't do oral sex on him, I think he just caught a common cold or the flu most likely.
