teething and cold difference?
i know they say infants can have fevers and a runny nose, etc. but how can you tell the difference between teething and a cold/flu

Consult a doctor on this question. My niece is 9 months and keeps a runny nose. Thats normal. She is also in the process of teething. Try to keep the babies nose clean and a teething toy around. It doesn't always have to be chilled that does help. Trust and believe everything the baby touches will go into the mouth.

Funny you should ask... my 10-month old son is going through some major teething right now and has a heck of a runny nose. He has had colds beofre, too, and you can definitely tall the difference. When he has a cold, he's tired, he sneezes and coughs, and kind of "acts sick" if that means anything.
Right now, he's got a runny nose, but none of those other tings. He is chewing on everything he can get his hands on (including his hands!) and he is hanging his tongue out a lot - I think chewing on it! Most of all, he is DROOLING!! He's like a little fountain. And when you look at his gums, they are a little swollen looking and you can start to see a little white under the skin where the new teeth are coming in. None of these things have happened when he has had a cold.
