What are good foods to eat when having the flu?
I don't know if it's stomach flu or not.
I'm vegetarian but can eat foods that contain egg.
I won't eat yogurt because it just adds to the flu bacteria.
I do not want to eat anything that can make you throw up.
I get dehydrated easily.
*Please understand that I am vegetarian, not vegan, meaning I can drink milk and such!
Thanks if you can help.

First thing, flu is a virus not a bacteria....the bacteria in yogurt can heal the intestinal track.....You should do clear broth until your tummy settles, a good vegetable broth.....hot tea.....I would hold off on milk, cause milk can cause mucous....if it goes to your lungs....

A good veg soup. The brothy kind .

Eat saltine crackers...you won't throw that up and it will stay in your tummy.

If your stomach is bothering you, stay away from any dairy.... GINGER has a calming effect on nausea, so gingerale, ginger tea and even gingersnaps are good. Saltines ... maybe a sorbet (doesn't have dairy, like sherbet does). Hagen Daz has good mango, raspberry and lemon sorbet. .Popsicles are good too; or jello....I wouldn't worry about eating a balanced diet until you feel better. It's just important to get liquids and SOME food into you now........
