When is it safe or is it safe to exercise with a cold virus?
I play roller hockey on sundays and it gets pretty physically demanding, during the week its usually the exercise bike for 10-20 minutes. I try to get my heart rate near target, but anything helps. I'm just getting the symptoms you get at the onset of a cold and my wife was in bed all day yesterday with strep and cold symptoms. How do I know when its alright to exercise again?

When the doctor has cleared you, but usually when precum is released.

I say don't till you are over your virus, it lowers your immune system which has to build up to attack the virus, white blood cells.

The common cold usually lasts about a week if you have a healthy immune system. You sound like you are physically active enough, and if you eat a balanced diet and get enough sleep you should be completely rid of your cold within the next week or so.
I usually wait 3-4 days after the very first onset of the cold before I do anything strenuous. It might not necessarily be that dangerous, but it may be more difficult and tiring than usual to exercise vigorously with a cold. By that time my cold symptoms usually aren't as severe and I can feel that it's on its way out of my system. This could vary from person to person, however, but I would recommend 3-4 days to be safe.
