Are experiencing flu symptoms after a flu shot normal?
I just got a flu shot yesterday, and I woke up today with a little bit of a sore throat. I know I should probably just call my doctor but I just thought I'd ask on here first.

So is it at all normal to experience one of the flu symptoms after receiving a flu shot?

Thanks.
Thanks for both your answers! I hope it's related, I just don't wanna get the flu when I just got a shot to prevent it :(

Yes, normal. Also, you might have a sore throat due to cold or some other ailment.

You might know already but you can't actually get the flu from a flu shot. So far as I know sore throat isn't even a side effect of it, so that's probably not related. The usual side effects are soreness where the shot was administered or fever and/or achiness.

A flu shot is the doctor injecting a small part of the flu into you so that your body can build your immune system stong enough to defeat it if you actually get it. So yes, having flu symptoms after the flu shot is VERY normal.
