Does alcohol withdraw or abuse cause flu like symptoms?
I know what the basic symptoms of alcohol withdraw are, kind of. Someone I know is an alcoholic. He drinks 12 beers per day in about a 4 hour period. He does not drink during the day, but HAS to drink by 8 pm every night. This has been going on for years. I noticed recently that a lot of days he complains of flu like symptoms in the afternoon. Or complains of having diarrhea through the night. I just wondered if this could be related to the chronic drinking, or if withdraw symptoms always include tremors and things like that.

flu like symptoms are early signs of alcohol detox in a hard core drinker like your friend. The diarrhea is also to be expected in alcoholism, the intestinal flora have a hard time staying alive with all the alcohol in the system so diarrhea is commonplace.
