How long can a cold/flu virus survive on food?

Torrey, The answer may shock you. Virus are usually well-killed by heat, BUT if the food is contaminated with virus and then frozen, it can last for years. In a refrigerator, the virus can last in food for easily a week. It varies a little depending upon the individual virus.
