Possible side effects?
I took some Equate Daytime Cold & Flu medicine, and then forgot and a few minutes later, I took some Rite Aid Tussin CF. I felt so messed up for about 3 hours. I was very tired, and I believe that I actually fell asleep, but I could tell what exactly was happening around me. I felt hypersensitive, and not there. I was told later that I did fall asleep, but I could recollect everything that happened. I believe it was a high, but I do not know what caused it, or what dangers I have accidentally exposed myself to. I would like someone to tell me what caused this, and what some potential side effects might be. The active ingredients in both were Daytime(325mg Acetaminophen, 10mg Dextromethorphan, 5mg Phenylephrine) Tussin(10mg Dextromethorphan, 100mg Guaifenesin, 5mg Phenylephrine)

You definately got 'high'.
Off the Dextromethorphan, to be precise. DXM is a sleep aid in low concentrations, and a hallucinagen in higher concentrations.
You probably were awake in a semi-lucid state hallucinating away while you were lying there. I've done this by accident myself and was very much freaked out until I found out that it's just a result of too much cold medication.
Next time, keep all your cold meds in the same location, and if you've taken some, leave a note for yourself that you've already had some a such and such a given time.
Is this dangerous? Because of the other chemicals, yes. DXM won't kill you unless you take a stupidly high amount - and even then, it's probably the other chemicals it's packaged with that will do that to you. The worst that could happen would be that you stop breathing, but you'd probably have to take a good 6 times the amount you did.
I wouldn't do it again, though. Just in case. Plus it's not very restful to lay there hallucinating.
