Regular cold/flu? Swine flu?
I dont think i do, but i tend to overreact when something is happening like the swine flu and i get any symptoms of it... and instead of freaking out about it and going to a doctor im going to ask on here...

I woke up one morning nd my throat was really dry nd it was scratchy nd all that i thought it would go away becuz it wasnt the first time that had happnd but this is the 2nd day nd it still kind of hurts but only when i swallow but barely anymore.it was also a tiny bit hard to swallow and it sometimes is. but nothing major like i cant swallow at all. Im starting to take some medicine to make my cough go away nd its not that bad. Ive had no fever or anything these past 2 days nd it just suddenly happnd when i woke up.

i think it was maybe becuz i slept with my mouth open or something nd i left my fan on at night...

well, let me know what you think... yea i may be wayyy over reacting but I cant rlly help it I always do... does anyone have any advice on how to like not freak out when u find out u may be sick or something? i had a kidney problem awhile back like 3 years ago and i completely freaked out and thought i was gonna like die and stuff...

its just that i tend to overreact... sooo if anyone can tell me about what i wrote above that would help :)

For the most part, the odds of you getting the swine flu are slim to none. It was just another news story scare that no one I knew or anyone over the internet I knew, or anyone they knew had ever caught it. Doctors even said it was nothing to really worry about unless your immune system was bad or you were an infant. It was just a more severe form of the flu. A sore throat could be millions of things, and one of the last things it'd be would probably be swine flu.

I've had throat infections my whole life and I have coughing problems from then to then. It's either just being sick, or your throat is irritated. Sleeping with your mouth open will SURELY make your throat hurt. If it's really cold and that air is going down your throat you'll probably wake up with a swollen uvula and it'll be very bothersome for most of the day.

As for not freaking out, unless you're unable to move at all what so ever with severe reoccurring bad symptoms such as vomiting, bleeding or lack of breathing, then you should just think to yourself that minor treatments will cure you. If it is something devastating then mostly calm yourself knowing the medical field will charge a fortune, but long as you have insurance you'll be fine.

Relaxing is one of the best ways to get over a disease.

You know your own body better than anyone. No I don't believe you have the swine flu. Down where I live, people are catching a flu. Scary because of the swine flu. I started out just like you, then I got fever. I guess mine was just a regular flu because I'm better now. Please don't be afraid to go see your doctor. Best to be safe

think it looks like you are just getting a cold. the symptoms of swine flu are explained in this article: http://pediatrics.about.com/od/swineflu/…

You need to now make sure you dont prolonge your cold or even the flu, so first thing is cleaning, and secondly taking care of yourself. Of course second one is more important :P

Cleaning:

Wipe down the following with anti-bacterial type wipes: Door knobs (esp bathrooms), drawer handles, your computer, the desk you work on, light switches, the handle of the kettle and the handle of the fridge.

Other things (apart from cleaning) and more importantly:

Make you stay warm - keep checking your body temperature.

Buy something like lemsip (hot drink for cold and flu) or buy http://www.healthchemist.co.nz/nasal-spr… This is really good - have a quick read.

Buy throat lozenges (honey and lemon ones). Make sure you keep blowing your nose so that you dont get a head cold (if you are feeling stuffy). Drink LOTS and LOTS of water.

Try and make, then drink the following: Hot water, with squeezed lemon (1 teaspoon) with 1 tablespoon honey. Drink lots of this.

Have LOTS of fruits - buy vitamin C tablets (you can also buy chewable ones). Or buy these tablets (or something similar to them): http://www.chemist.co.nz/product.cfm?Pro… Its honestly really good.

Drink lots of Echinecea tea (tastes nice too).

If you do start to feel a bit sick, rest HEAPS - just sleep for a few hours. Make sure you nap everyday for 1 hour so that your body rests. Do this for 3 days. You really need to sleep more.

These are just precautions that I recommend to avoid getting the cold - or at least reduce the symptoms or decrease the duration of the cold.

Oh andd, gargle warm water (mixed with salt) once a day.

If your thoart starts hurting, try this: To help your throat specifically, I have a home-made formula that will REALLY HELP:

1) Boil Sprite (lemonade) with pieces of ginger
2) While boiling, half way through, add 1 teaspoon of squeezed lemon and 1 tablespoon of honey
3) Remove the ginger (if you dont like it)

DRINK!

Seriously, best cure for throats
