Should I go to the doctor for cold/flu symptoms?
Normally I wouldn't, and the student health center at my school is extremely overloaded right now w/ cold, flu, H1N1. But I just returned from travelling in China. Does this fact alone warrant a doctor visit?

I am just now feeling the symptoms coming on this morning - headache, sore throat, sniffles and general discomfort. As of yet I don't have have a fever.
I know how to deal with the symptoms at home. I am just wondering should I be concerned due to the fact I have been in China?

I wouldn't. I use garlic, and a cool mist humidifier to which I have added Hydrogen peroxide.

i wouldn't bother -- if you don't have one of the nasties currently at your health center, you will certainly have a great chance of catching something if you go. and if you DO have a flu, even h1n1, there's nothing really they can do for you other than the usual: plenty of fluids and rest.

keep in mind, too, that a fever is the body's way of fighting off an infection: you don't necessarily need to lower a fever with over-the-counter meds.

that said, if you have an underlying chronic medical condition OR you start having trouble breathing or spike a very high fever, head to the doctor's ASAP. there's crummy and then there's *ill*.

hope you trip was fantastic! i haven't been to china yet but would love to go.
