Uncle said it was ok, but online stuff says not to take contac (cold+flu) while breastfeeding...?
I had read that decongestants will dry up milk supply, my fiancee keeps telling me that it will be fine since his uncle (3rd yr med student with 2 kids) says its alright and that it will be fine, has anyone taken it while breastfeeding?
I feel really sick, all congested, have a sinus headache and with it dripping down my throat it is makeing me cough & making my throat sore

NO FEVER

I would talk to your doctor, or if you can't wait then call a 24 hour pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist. It's not ideal, but you might get lucky and get someone who knows their stuff. I would see if you can wait and talk to your doctor though.

Don't trust someone just because they are a med student, many actual doctors aren't up to speed on all the breastfeeding facts and theories. I would talk to someone who actually studies breastfeeding.

I had the flu while i was bf and was told not to take any meds. I was told to make sure my hands and breast were very clean before I fed my baby and to make sure I drink plenty of liquids. Try calling your dr if your symptoms are really bad or call now and get advice before they are! It will def put you mind at ease.

Yes it is true that decongestants can dry up your milk. There is a great book called Medication and Mother's Milk. This is the book that you need to get the exact truthful answer.
