Was swine flu 1976 Vaccine different from 2009 swine flu vaccine?
Does this 2009 shot have the same thing in it that caused GBS in earlier years when it was given?

They don't really know what the problem was with the 76 flu shot...and as far as I am concerned, it could happen again.

It is different, but based on the same concept. The new vaccine was studied for weeks before they released it. There have been new problems with the new vaccine despite though, it is still being revised and new strains will be better than the initial one. Nothing as serious as the GBS in the newer vaccine in most people.

I do remember the 1976 incident, and it was referred to as swine flu. I was 19 at the time and attending the University. Being young and gullible, I followed President Ford's suggestion to get a swine flu shot, and I promptly caught the worst case of flu I ever had, and I missed a week's worth of classes at the University. I decided then and there that I was never going to get a flu shot again, and I have not, and I have not gotten the flu again either. Of course, that is just me. you'll always get a certain few people whose evolutionary history gives them the potential to over react to an immunostimulant such as the adjuvant component of the vaccine and precipitate some sort of exaggerated immune raction like Guillian Barre. It can't be helped but I understand the rate was 1 in 80,000 in 1976 which is far less than the rate of flu deaths ( 1 in 33) in 1919 pandemic.
