What is the difference between a common cold and a flu?

If there's a £20 note outside, youll pick it up if its a cold.

If you have the flu you wont.

But if your well enought to get up and go on line I suspect you have a cold.

Generally speaking a cold is caused by a bacterial infection and a flu is called by a virus. Though the symptoms are the same.

The common cold is caused by germs/bacteria which is ingested into your system and affects the parts of the body it comes into contact with. The flu is a virus and is much more serious. Viruses are different to germs in that they are designed to penetrate your system upon entry, multiply, and destroy cells. The body has to work a lot harder to fight the virus than it does with a common cold.
