How often do you get a bad cold?
I usually get a bad cold on average once every three months. How does this compare to most people?
I'm an adult, and obsessive about hand sanitizer, by the way.

My step children average that, but it is because of poor hygiene.

I only said what our case was, it had nothing to do with your case.

You asked about us, not you.
Sorry.

You would get a bad cold as often as you are exposed to the bacteria that causes colds. If you are getting a cold every 3 months this means that you are being exposed to the bacteria more.

You could have allergies. I get bronchitis twice a year. It starts out from allergies and then I get all congested, eat infections (usually in both ears), and then it turns into bronchitis (mainly because I am a smoker). My doc has tried me on singulaire, claritin, albuterol, and a steroid inhaler. We went through different combinations and using them alone. The best combo for me is claritin and singulaire, daily when allergies start. For you I would ask the doc to put you on something year round if it is actually allergies. Do you work with kids? Are you a smoker? Do you take vitamins, and eat healthy? Are there other things that may be contributing to you getting sick so often?

I get it about 2-3 times a year and I usually get the flu at least once a year.

Medical research has suggested that being "Ultra clean" can be detrimental as your body does not build up immunity or a resistant to these bugs or in this case virus because your just killing them off with bleach etc.
It is said that with every cold you catch it is a different strain of virus every time. Why?Because your body has produced a immunity or defense.
Try to eat wholesome, healthy food, lots of green veg and plenty of protein and complex carbohydrates, sleep at least 7hrs a night, exercise a de-stress....ohhh and don't wrap your self in bubble wrap go gardening and experience those bugs you'll be so much healthier for it....but always talk to your doctor, and don't let him just prescibe you antibiotics for one they don't cure viruses only bacterial infection and they kill off millions of your good bacteria which is sooooo important for healthy living. :)
By the way sometimes I might have a cold twice a year other years never, school teachers get sick heaps for the first few years of teaching till there immune systoms get resistant to heaps (kids pass on everything with there low immunities)
