seasonal cold

Almost 38 weeks and I feel like I'm coming down with seasonal cold/flu?
A few days ago my throat was hurting pretty badly in the middle of the night. I wrote it off as my usual reaction to the weather changing (getting a lot cooler here in Kansas), and I felt a lot better the next day (yesterday). Then last night, I had some drainage and a sinus headache, and now my mouth is feeling all hot and weird like it does when I come down with the seasonal cold/flu.

My doctor told me to call if I experience a fever, which I plan on checking on when I get home from work.

But I am just wondering, what will they do if I fall ill this late in my pregnancy? Will I be able to take anything? Is it super dangerous for my baby?

Do you definitely have a fever? It depends on what you have. My friend got the flu, so they induced her when her fever broke. The drainage and sinus headache are pretty normal. Your body can be just run down from working overtime to grow a baby too, which can make you feel yucky. If you have a fever, take tylenol to get it to break and call your doctor!

EDIT: Sorry I saw that you're going to check your temp. When you get home just load up on the fluids, and lay down!

You can take some regular Tylenol Cold to deal with the headache, fever and sinus pressure. You can NOT take any muti symptom tylenol though, so be careful when you buy some. Load up on water and hot tea. You won't be hurting your baby, but it's better to kick in the butt before you go into labor. Good luck

Orange juice and milk! (Vitamin C and D!) They boost the immune system. If you can't handle, or don't like millk, drink orange juice or you can ask your doctor about how many mgs of actually Vitamin C tablets you can safely take with your prenatals.

well, i'm not 38 weeks yet, but i did come down with the same bug--i caught it from my daughter. basically, my doctor says not to keep a fever and if i do get one i'd go in and get some antibiotics or tamiflu (if it's the flu). i'm 36 weeks though, so i'm sure thgat makes a difference. just stay really hydrated and get well soon!

I've been feeling the same and got this offline.

I'm 31 weeks pregnant, so it might be different. The best thing would be to just call your doctor or an advice nurse and see what they would recommend since you are close to delivery (hopefully).
