Differance between flu and allergy to medications?
My wife was prescribed Vicoden for an accident last week and has taken 2 pills last week and nothing. today she took 1 then fell asleep for a nap and when she woke up she was shivering but felt hot in the head and vomited and has liquid stools. I dont know what to do or think about this any answers will be greatly appreciated. I was wondering whether it is an allergy to hydrocodone or if it is the flu or maybe just a 24 hour bug. thank you

She should call her doctor and ask for professional advice.
If it happens again after taking the hydrocodone then it's pretty safe to assume she has a sensitivity to it.
However, since she has taken it before it could be the flu. Alternately, if she took it with certain other medications or alcohol there is a chance that she may be having a reaction to the combination. This may or may not be cause for concern, so she should call her doctor for his professional advice.
For now, since she has diarrhoea, make sure she drinks enough fluids to keep hydrated. Milk is not a good idea in this case because it can be tough to digest and it can cause the problem to last longer. Bananas, applesauce, rice, and dry toast may help with the She should call her doctor and ask for professional advice.
If it happens again after taking the hydrocodone then it's pretty safe to assume she has a sensitivity to it.
If she had a head injury, that could also possibly cause some of those symptoms.
If she is experiencing difficulty breathing she should been seen by medical professional immediately as this could be a sign of a drug interaction, sensitivity, or accidental overdose.

Chances are it just a bug of some sort .. sounds like symptoms of strep, is her throat bothering her too? Vicoden is a funny drug, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Also has a lot to do with stress levels, meds aren't goign to work if shes stressed. If she was allergic she would have found out last week, you'd know if she was allergic, she'd havea rash or trouble breathing. Also could have been something she ate.
Good luck, if ur still concerned, definetly take her to see a dr.
