Have you had your Vitamin D level tested?
With all the publicity lately concerning Vitamin D as a cold and flu fighter, and considering that in WI, we don't get much sun most of the yr., I had mine checked. It was LOW! My Dr. put me on high RX doses for 3 mos. tested again and was much better, now on maintenance dose.
Patti. the test was about $ 160. The RX dose will depend on your results, I was on 50,000 U twice a wk. Maintenece is 1000 U.
I would not take more than 1000 U without being tested.
The problem is, some sources say get it from the sun, the dermatologists get upset. For more info type Vitamin D Deficiency into your search bar. Lots of info!

No I haven't. Is that an expensive test? I have heard that at least 25% of children tested were low enough to need supplements, may be one good thing to protect children from the flu. How many units per day did he prescribe?

My doctor tests mine as a part of my physical anyway. Mine was low, so I take 800 U daily. Vitamin D levels can sneak up on you without your knowing it.
