What kind of food would you recommend for someone with common Cold or Flu?
The kind that would help the healing process; and what kind of foods should be avoided?
Also is there any specific nutrient that would aid the healing?
Thanks for the answers.

soup is common, and it is actually good in aiding your immune system. tea is also very good! search yahoo for two articles by... i believe his name is Dr Mao.... one on soup, and one on tea, and why they are good for you. i think he ahs recipes on different soups/teas to help with the flu.
also, i would stick with balnd foods. spicy foods can irritate the throat or nose. warm liquids tend to be good.
also, i find that showering in a steaming hot shower for 15-30 minutes helps me feel so much better. i probably took 6 showers in two days when i had swine flu, and i ate home made chicken veggie soup. i was better in two days!
stay warm and don't eat too much junk food. your body needs healthy foods to function, and eating gummy bears and chips, plus soda and alcohol only worsens. OJ is yummy, plus vitamin C, and something to munch on are whole grain crackers or home made tortilla chips.
i hope this helped! being sick absolutely sucks!

It will run its course, with or without your help.
Soothe the symptoms, which you haven't named.

Being from the extreme south, I recommend a Chicken soup from "scratch" or homemade......Also, there is a product called "airborne" which is chocked full of vitamins and herbs...it works great for me..stay away from heavy foods as in meats and graveys and pastas as they tend to work the digestive system during a cold and take away from the healing process of the blood cleaning itself out.
