I got the flu shot, and about a day or so later I began developing 'flu-like' symptoms: any correlation?
I feel like utter crap... should have listened when I kept telling myself not to get the fucking thing -_- is it possible that the flu shot caused my symptoms? If so, any idea how long it could last? If it'll be more or less severe than the normal flu? There was no other way of me getting sick, as I haven't been exposed to anything else.

Yep, if you got a weakened virus one.

OF COURSE IT DID!!!
What do you think vaccines are?
They are bits of dead virus for your body to react to and learn from, so you make antibodies.
But your body reacts as if you are sick, whether the live bugs are there or not.
That's why getting the shot gives you the disease! Your body can't tell the difference -- it just reacts to material that's 'not-self'.
That's how the immune system works.

I got sick after I had my first flu shot. I never had a flu shot until the age of 33. I never have even had the flu in my life, so I don't even know why I bothered with the shot. My body was introduced to a virus and I'm sure it reacted by making me feel sick, just like it is doing with you. Generally, the flu mist is the one that causes more minor flu like symtoms. Flu-mist is where you spray mist up into your nose to get the vaccine. Typically the mist is the one that causes more flu like symptoms.

THE FLU SHOT DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY LIVE VIRUS PARTICLES. YOU CANNOT BE INFECTED FROM IT. The Flumist nasal vaccine contains live virus particles that are modified so they can't infect you, but people with compromised immune systems can be infected, and they shouldn't have it.
YOU DO NOT HAVE FLU SYMPTOMS UNLESS YOU HAVE A COUGH. Any vaccine activates your immune system to produce antibodies - this produces generalized symptoms of inflammation - fever, body aches, headache, etc.
You can be infected with the actual flu virus up to 2 weeks after receiving the shot, because your body has not produced enough antibodies for protection.
Lexa: I can't believe you don't know how vaccines work, being a nurse. "Little peices of a virus" can't infect cells like live virus particles. That's NOT how the immune system works.
