I'm traveling to Thailand from Australia; is it an issue that I am bringing a lot of medicine via check in?
Medicine is Doxy for malaria, gastro tablets, travelan, hay-fever tablets, panadol, cold and flu tablets, nausea tablets.

Is my bag going to get opened up and searched?

It's very unlikely that they will even search your bags; however, as long as you have only legal drugs, you will be fine. If you have Doctor's scripts, bring them anyway.

It's always possible that your bags will be searched. Most people carry all their meds in their carry-on baggage in case of problems when in flight. I have never heard of properly packaged pharmaceuticals being examined in carrying on baggage. But what do you consider alot? If you are carrying a years supply of everything, they might be curious due to the sheer bulk of your meds. Most of the meds you have mentioned are not prescription. In the case of Panadol, cold and flu tabs, nausea tabs, hay fever tabs... why would you bring large amounts with you. All these things can be purchased in SE Asia at lower prices than you will be paying in Aus. Bring whats necessary for a week and buy the rest when needed. The basics still apply. Pack as little as possible. including meds.

Not an issue at all. All those medicines you plan on bringing are legal and fine to bring through customs in reasonable quantities. Very few people get searched at customs in the airports here, and even if you do, you have nothing to worry about.
As a previous answer said, there's no reason to bring a large supply. Over the counter medicines are cheap and easily found just about everywhere in Thailand and many prescription medicines are easily obtained without a prescription.
If you need any of those medicines regularly, you may want to bring them in your carry on baggage, just in case your checked luggage gets lost or delayed.

usually no!
but better keep some registered Practitioners prescription with you. and also don't keep in much higher quantity than you need.
