Is it normal to have flu like body aches after surgery?
I had a D&C, NovaSure albation, a hysteroscoy, and tubal ligation on Monday June 16. I had mild cramping that day and felt good for a few days. Then, two days ago, I started getting hot and cold flashes (shivering) and my entire body aches like I have the flu. The dr told me to take 800 mg Motrin, but I still feel like garbage and have to go to work tomorrow. Anyone ever have this after those procedures, is it normal because of my hormones and is there anything I can do to feel better?

Are you running a fever? Keep taking the Motrin. Call the doctor back if you aren't feeling any better. Ask him if this is normal and if you should go see him tomorrow.

Sounds like you have a fever with the hot and cold flashes. Since Motrin is a fever reducer, take your temperature when it has worn off (4-6 hours). If you do have a fever, it is a huge red flag for an infection, which means you need to get to a doctor asap.

yes, i have had those same symptoms after a different type of surgery. i think that you should stay home. the cold-hot flashes go away in a few days. the only thing that helped me was time.

sorry babe. =\
