My doctor is clueless, night fevers, swollen nodes, severe weight loss. Knowledgeable people only please :)?
For a while I've been pretty sick, I'm 22 and a half or so & I've been complaining of night fevers, sore throats, nausea, abdominal pain, & exhaustion. I had developed Pancreatitis a while ago & was so swollen I looked pregnant, so I figure this isn't Pancreatitis. My doctor has no clues, I'm already up to 4 swollen lymph nodes when usually I'd have 1 or so. They've lasted for 2 weeks maybe. I already got my flu shot so I figured it was a cold & just to stay in bed although I had symptoms before the nausea & abdominal pain came into play. I had blood work, no news is good news with him. I've lost a substantial amount of weight as well, all my clothing is very loose on me now & I shrunk 2 and a half or 3 cup sizes so that's how I REALLY know I've lost fat at least. I've been going out despite being sick lately too, to my friends houses etc. I stayed in bed for like a week before & I thought I was better, now it's flaring up again. This seems recurring, if it is a cold there's nothing I can really do for it but eat well (I eat a primarily vegetarian diet low in carbs, & the weight wasn't coming off then but now it's just melted off in a very short amount of time & my stomach hurts all the time, I have not been starving myself lately though I am prone to doing so at other times accidentally because my Wilson's Disease causes anorexia in some people, basically no appetite).

I had been tested for Pancreatitis and I didn't have it, what else should I run by the doctor as of Monday? I feel really sick, but at the same time energetic when I'm not exhausted. Sometimes I just pass out for 13 hours & I feel relatively good except for extra migraines and extra sore joints. They're very painful & he has no idea what to do about that either. Perhaps it's all related? I'm used to having sore joints, but not THIS sore. I can hardly walk sometimes. I went from being a size 12 triple D breast size to a size 8 or so in just 2 weeks, and C. My skin isn't sagging or anything so that I'm thankful for - but is weightloss that fast dangerous? My doctor welcomes me to throw out suggestions since I'm a former pre-med student but I dropped out because I really don't want to be a doctor. At all. Still, he's out of answers especially since I got my flu shot and the pancreas panel came up normal. What else do you think I should run by him on Monday? Because he really is clueless, I was even told to go to the emergency room but I have a phobia of doctors, if my stomach was swollen like before though I'd go since I almost died back then. Since the Pancreatitis I have lost over 10 inches, I don't weigh myself because I'm very muscular too (I have an athletic build I suppose, very boxy & muscular arms/legs/neck), they seem unaffected and just as large as before. Also, I come from Jewish ancestry and there's a lot of people in my family affected by illnesses but I don't know which ones or if they match what I'm experiencing, it's part of the ancestry.

My guess is Mono or some kind of a liver virus. I was pre-med until this year bc I got mono terrible and missed a lab in my biochemistry and organic chem class and now I won't have an A as my final grade so that basically eminates my chances of getting into med school so now i"m just in school to be a dietitian.

I had nigh sweats, a very swollen liver and was exhausted and had swollen glands--so many of your symptoms. But I'm sure your doctor has already tested for Mono.

Are you sexually active, possibly this is an STD in a very late stage.. Maybe you are deficient in a vitamin (sore joints)... I think there must be a link with the weight loss, that is very unhealthy rapid weight loss..

Other than that I'm really clueless...

That's another reason why I was so quick to give up on being a doctor.. So much responsibility... I really can't think of anything else..

Or what about stomach ulcers? There are a lot of viruses going around the east/mid west US right now bc of the late spring.. but if you're no located there then I'm not sure.. I could babel on for a few paragraphs more but I'm sure nothing too important... Maybe a vitamin A overdose?

Feel free to email me on this yahoo answers if you want to bounce more ideas... I hope you feel better!

Have you been tested for thyroid disease? If so, was TSH in 'normal' range of .3 - 3? Did they test for antibodies?

Blessings
