Natural or effective remedies for betting the common cold flu?
My husband always gets runny noses, sneezes, coughs as the colder season approaches. Sometimes has to work outside in the rain. Also gets hayfever etc. As he works on commission, he often feels obliged to work, and actually NEEDS to work to get the bills paid. I think he has a shot immune system anyway as his diet isn't very good. I've heard eating raw garlic and drinking freshly squeezed orange juice is good to combat the winter blues.
What are your suggestions? P.S. It is currently autumn (fall) in N.Z. and I think we are in for an extremely cold witer this year!!

He should get the flu shot. I live in Nz too and have had two colds in the last month. I took cold and flu tablets and cleared it up real quick. If he had a better diet it would help. He needs to eat better and of course heaps of fluids. Cider vinegar and manuka honey or any honey would do is a effective drink for throats and chest but tastes pretty yuk....lol Good luck hope hes feeling better soon.

garlic yes, the orange juice has vitamins...good too!! for the cough try this... squeeze some ginger juice, mix it with honey, boil it, cool and store.use it for frequent and persistent coughs. keeping a clove in the mouth can be a relief too.

Well first of all, daily vitamins would be very helpful, especially some extra zinc and vitamin C. Daily vitamins should be taken during winter.

Second, a daily antihistamine like Zyrtec or Claritan would help combat the hay fever.

Third, when congestion arrives, try taking some Mucinex and blow your nose OFTEN.

The best way to comabt winter sickness is to blow your nose often and wash your hands repeatedly. Carry around instant have sanitizer.

That is the best you can do. You're bound to get sick, but these should help.

If a flu shot is available in your area, be sure to get it.

Gl through the winter.

Vitamin C, echinacia, horseradish and garlic are great. You may be able to get them all in one tiny capsule from your chemist or health food store.
