Switched to Organic Lifestyle recently and now suffer from more colds/flu...?
I converted to a 100% organic diet, for many reasons. Im too fatigued to explain, but since going off of conventional milk, dairy, meats, I have had 3 flu-ish or cold like sicknesses, that last a few days. I think they start in my sinuses. I also have a scalp infection.
Anyhow- I was trying to find out if possibly my body was used to the low level dose of antibiotics that I was injesting all of my life, up until recently. From my research, up to 50% of milk alone has 80 different antibiotics. All that aside, is it possible that Im now "catching" the colds and sicknesses that i didnt catch as a kid or teenager b/c of the constant level of antibiotics in my body that I never built up antibodies to them?
Otherwise- when im not sick, I feel great- i know that sounds strange. I lost weight and enjoy eating organically and sustainably - but hate to be sick.
Prior- i would get sick maybe once/year... this is my third time in 2 months.
Any info is greatly appreciated :)
ps- thanks for the answers- i still drink milk (wasnt a heavy user before) which is organic, and still is fortified w/ vitamin D. But- im eating much less in general now that im on a low calorie diet (1200-1400/day)- so a vitamin deficiency is very possible.
I started taking apple cider vinegar, and got over my cold last night (fever broke), and heard its practically a miracle food. So, im going to start taking it every day, as well as vitamins.
I dont think i need a Dr.- my mother in law is a nurse- and has been keeping an eye on me. It seems i just catch what everyone else has easily- hence- possible immune/vitamin deficiency. Thank you!

you may have some vitamin deficiencies - most likely one is vitamin d - you still need some of the nutrients -you just have to find other ways of doing this.
you don't need to do this kind of thing without medical supervision -you need to report this to your doctor - let them test you for whatever deficiencies you may have.
get a nutritionist or dietician
I follow a vegan diet, and I had fatigue and it was due to deficiencies.
don't do a diet change without talking to your doctor and it sounds like you did. Go back toyour old diet and then talk to your doctor and then switch back when you can find out how to do it safely.
if I were to guess what you are missing - it is vitamin d - which you can get from fortified soy milk. but I dont know - see a doctor

You need to make sure you are getting enough vitamins and protein in your diet. If you are not you need to take supplements. Sometimes our body can go into shock mode from such changes, and therefore our immune systems weaken.

Your new diet is free of chemicals and preservatives, and your body is detoxifying itself. That could also explain the scalp infection. Other side effects could be skin eruptions, headaches, irritability, fatigue etc. These will eventually subside and you'll always feel GREAT! Also to help speed the detox process drink distilled water, it leaches on to inorganic material in the body and eliminates it through your urine..
