What is a good working cold medicine?
What is a good working cold medicine? I have a headache, body ache, very sore throat, stuffy nose, and fever of 102. It is not the flu, I was at the doctor yesterday and he did a flu test and said I have a very bad cold. I do not have sneezing or coughing with this. He gave me Allegra D and Delsym and they are not doing any good - I still cannot rest and cannot sleep. I tried nyquil and it doesn't help me sleep either. Any suggestions would be great. I can't barely type this, I feel so bad. Just needed some advice. Serious answers only please.

But by the time you have got these you should be over the worst.
Vitamin C in large doses can help shorten the duration of colds but like all these things they are best taken at the very start of the cold. Take 1000mg (1gram) each hour for the first 6 hours and then 6 grams or more a day until you start to get loose bowels. Then cut back a little. Don't stop taking the Vitamin C until 2 days after the cold has gone. Zinc Lozenges are good to suck if you can get some. Don't eat sugar or foods containing it as it lowers the immune system.
Drink plenty of room temperature pure water or hot lemon with a little honey and hot vegetable soup. Eat light foods like fruit and lightly cooked vegetables. Stay warm and rest a lot so your body can fight the virus.

The easiest thing is a steam inhaler form of cold therapy. The idea behind it is this..A common cold is a virus vector and, almost impossible to treat..However, a steam heat has been proven to help break the cold..I am afraid that there's no known cure just yet..
