Do I have the flu - i'm pregnant and paranoid!?
I had a little bit of a sore throat on the right side which went away overnight but now I have a bit of jaw pain and I noticed when I bend over I can feel sinus pressure and pressure in the right jaw area. Could this be a cold or flu slowly progressing. What homeopathic remedies are there to prevent these symptoms from progressing? I've been taking lots of vitamin C and had a tea of lemon, ginger, garlic and honey that seemed to make the sore throat subside.

Also, what is the average amount of time it takes for flu/swine flu symptoms to appear?

Hi Elke.

The symptoms of 2009 H1N1 flu virus in people include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea. People may be infected with the flu, including 2009 H1N1 and have respiratory symptoms without a fever. Severe illnesses and deaths have occurred as a result of illness associated with this virus.

What are "emergency warning signs" that should signal anyone to seek medical care urgently?

In children:

• Fast breathing or trouble breathing
• Bluish skin color
• Not drinking enough fluids
• Not waking up or not interacting
• Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
• Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
• Fever with a rash

In adults:

• Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
• Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
• Sudden dizziness
• Confusion
• Severe or persistent vomiting

Take Care. Regards.

to me so far it sounds maybe like the beginning of a cold which is annoying but nothing to worry about...just keep taking your vitamins and get lots of rest...if you are worried just call your doctor...although pregnant women are in the high risk group for the swine flu i don't think you have much to worry about, unless your doctor has told you otherwise....the swine flu is not much different from the seasonal flu all symptoms and treatment are the same so i think you should be no more worried about the swine flu than the regular flu...anyways just keep doing what you are doing and if you feel any alarming changes in your symptoms call your doctor...another thing that helps a sore throat is gargling warm salt water....

please that shot is not safe don't get it people are dieing from the side effects!you don't want to risk you unborn child!!!

You and I have similar fears -- "cold or flu slowly progressing" is what I have been thinking about my own sitch.

I am going on almost 1 month of a low-grade fever ( in the 99 F).

However - I worried if it was "something wicked this way comes"

My honest opinion (and you may not like it)

Go see a Certified Doctor &/or your OBGYN.

If you have one of the Flus -- there is NOTHING that is going to stop it from running it's course.

Herbal remedies may often work -- but NOT when you do not have, a Factual Diagnosis.

P.S. -- It turns-out I do not have the Flu, but Viral Allergies (tree molds), that have just now turned into Sinusitis (which is kinda what yours sounds like*).

I have just started antibiotics, but only after almost 4 weeks.

Sometimes -- Antibiotics (as "Unnatural" as the may seem) - can save you life.

I also take Lactobacillus GG (just another probiotic bacterium) -- it replaces all of the "good" bacteria, that "antibiotics" tends to destroy.

Good luck :)

Edit --

As far as a sore throat --

Gargling with salt-water is still a good method to "break-up" any phlegm -- and if No-phlegm -- it still can "soothe" a sore throat.

Whether or not you actually have an "infection" -- Salt water is totally safe, either way.

Also -- Lemon & Honey (just enough to coat the throat) can be soothing -- the "lemon" helps disolve the thickness of the Honey and allows for better "coating"
